I’m thrilled to share the story behind La Tusa, a barn quilt mural I created in downtown Springdale on Emma Avenue. This 8’ x 8’ piece, painted with exterior acrylic on wood panel, was completed in 2023 as a commission by Arts One Presents.

This project was a unique opportunity to bring together vibrant colors, bold patterns, and a celebration of Honduran 🇭🇳 folk traditions. The design depicts an aerial view of a Honduran folk dancing group performing the whimsical La Tusa dance. Male dancers offer their partners a corn husk, playfully sparking mock indignation—until the women transform the husk into a wheat flower for their hair, rekindling their delight.

Working with Arts One Presents was an incredible experience. Their support and commitment to fostering cultural representation made this project even more meaningful. Seeing La Tusa displayed in such a public space fills me with pride, knowing it contributes to the cultural richness of Northwest Arkansas.
